Focus
Hampden Estate's new release bears its founding year in its name. Hampden 1753 is naturally produced from the pillars that have made the distillery legendary:
- the use of the purest water, from a spring that springs a few kilometres from the Estate, in the heart of Cockpit Country, used to dilute the molasses that arrives from the Long Pond sugar mill
- the spontaneous fermentation, triggered by natural indigenous yeasts that work for very long periods, generating those esters responsible for the characteristic final aromatic charge;
- the distillation, which lasts approximately 7 hours, in the 6 discontinuous double retort copper pot stills from all corners of the world, one of which dates back to 1960;
- tropical ageing and finally the total absence of added sugar or colouring agents. It is a production method handed down century after century, one of the most authentic in the world of rum;
This new release joins the main range of official Hampden bottlings, along with the 8-year-old and the HCLF Classic Overproof.
