Piemme Spirits

Overview

History

Founded in 1969 in Piano di Sorrento, PIEMME was established by a group of artisans from Sorrento dedicated to producing traditional liqueurs and confectionery specialities from the local region. Since 1986, the company has been producing its own Limoncello using an ancient family recipe, passed down from generation to generation and reinterpreted through an approach that combines craftsmanship, supply chain control and modern technology. Even today, PIEMME remains a company deeply rooted in the Sorrento Peninsula, committed to promoting the region’s raw materials, starting with the Sorrento Lemon PGI.

Production method

PIEMME Limoncello is made exclusively from Sorrento IGP lemons, harvested by hand at the perfect stage of ripeness and processed fresh to preserve their aromatic profile. The peel, rich in essential oils, is peeled and left to infuse in alcohol, so as to naturally extract the colour, aromas and character of the fruit. PIEMME uses fresh, non-frozen peel, in quantities greater than the most common standards, without resorting to additives, artificial flavourings or sweeteners.

Once the infusion is complete, the addition of water and cane sugar finishes the process, resulting in a fresh, intense limoncello with deep roots in the Sorrento Peninsula.

Alongside Limoncello di Sorrento, PIEMME also produces organic Limoncello and a range of traditional liqueurs, including Nocino, Agrumello, Finocchietto and Liquirizia, as well as confectionery specialities made in-house, which include the iconic Babà in its classic rum and Limoncello versions.
