Chinati Vergano
Overview
History
Chinati Vergano is a family-run company that has been producing vermouths, liqueurs and flavored wines using artisanal methods for 20 years. Founded by Mauro Vergano, it has always focused on small experimental productions based on the elaboration of recipes that date back to the late 19th century, carefully selecting raw materials, from wine to herbs, searching for new horizons of flavor and enhancing products that have fallen into disuse. Casa Vergano is the company's space for experimentation, events and varied collaborations.
Method of production
Flavored wines were in ancient times highly valued and known for their medicinal properties, as well as for their pleasantness, as in the case of vermouth. Traditionally they were prepared at home, or at most by small artisanal businesses such as some coffee shops and pharmacies. Chinati Vergano has set itself the goal of delving into this area, taking advantage of a long family tradition in liquor and pharmaceuticals: its products are therefore the fruit of more than 20 years of studies and experiments, while maintaining the desire to develop novelties that open new horizons. For its productions, the Vergano team possesses extensive expertise in both oenology and herbalism, essential to range from vermouths to chinates.
One specialty is Lulì, a Moscato d'Asti-based chinato wine, which represents an absolute novelty in the field of flavored wines. Traditionally, flavored white wines were based on the use of aromatic products such as dry Moscato, whose lesser aromaticity was overpowered by the subsequent flavoring; the novelty of Lulì lies in the use of Moscato d'Asti as is, exploiting precisely its intense fruity notes in the preparation.
