Jin Jiji India Dry Gin

Jin Jiji India Dry Gin

By Velier

The idea for Jin JiJi was born during one of my stays in India,' says Ansh Khanna, one of the two founders of the brand. "At the time, I was working in the US for an alcohol import company, so I had the opportunity to sample interesting spirits from around the world, including many from India, but I had never found an Indian gin. Then I travelled all over the world to visit distilleries, and I quickly realised that India had a wealth of botanicals, and that it really could be the best place in the world for gin, being in many ways the garden of the world. Once back in India, I started researching the different regions and their botanicals, resulting in Jin JiJi."

Overview

History

Jin JiJi was founded in 2019 by Ansh Khanna and Master Sommelier Ken Fredrickson, with a desire to capture the unique flavours and magic of a unique country. The name Jiji is derived from the Hindi word Jijivisha, used to describe a zest for life.

Production method

As for the production process, the botanicals are macerated overnight; "This is followed by a slow distillation in our 1000 litre copper still, Bain Marie style." Copper reacts at the molecular level to produce a naturally clean and smooth spirit; it helps to eliminate volatile sulphur compounds during the distillation of the gin, in a process that ensures its purity.
