Why it’s different

The first two bottlings of Caroni's new Paradise series are extraordinary limited editions, the origins of which date back to the Caroni Ceremony on 12 April 2019, during which 26 rum experts - including Luca Gargano and Thierry Benitah - selected the 23 best from the 136 barrels remaining from Caroni's last available stock.

Each barrel chosen for Single Cask bottling was then decanted into 54-litre glass demijohns, at a ratio of one barrel to four demijohns. Each label is numbered and indicates the carboy number - #1 to #4 - at the top right.

The cask of Caroni Paradise #1 is #5552, and comes from the stock moved to Guyana in 2009.

Curiosity

The labels are illustrated by the heavily Caribbean-inspired works of Che Lovelace, a Trinidadian artist and lecturer at the creative arts campus of the University of the West Indies.
