Why it’s different
Unsun Karuta is the series through which La Maison & Velier showcases the final casks from the Nine Leaves distillery: seven new releases, each linked to a card from the ancient Japanese game from which the collection takes its name. Sota of Isu is one such card. The rum was distilled in 2015 and has been matured for eleven years in a single first-fill French oak cask – the longest maturation period of the seven. As a Single Cask, it comes from a single cask; it is bottled at 57° in a 70 cl bottle. Behind it stands the Otsu distillery, founded in 2013 by Yoshiharu Takeuchi.
