Why it’s different

Rhum Rhum Liberation 2024 is a Pure Single Agricole Rhum produced from an ancient variety of sugar cane, Rouge B47.259, which has almost disappeared from the Antilles. Once perfectly ripe, the cane is cut by hand with traditional 'coutelas' and transported to the distillery on 'cabrouets' pulled by oxen. The freshly pressed juice is not diluted, as is usually the case in the production of rhum agricoles; fermentation takes place in open vats at a controlled temperature and lasts up to 5-6 days. After distillation, a long period of rest in steel vats begins, lasting up to a year, during which the alcohol content is slowly lowered. The rum is then aged in French oak barrels that have contained some of the finest wines from France's greatest crus.

All Liberation whiskies bear the year of their "liberation" from the barrel on the label. This version is bottled at 45°.
