Why it’s different

Seven years on from its last release, Fonseca marks the grand return of a classic Vintage with the Guimaraens 2024. The vintage was characterised by ideal weather conditions: the good water reserves accumulated during the winter, combined with a cool and breezy end to the summer, favoured the gradual development and optimal phenolic ripening of the grapes.

The grapes used are sourced from the estate’s three historic crus – Quinta do Panascal, Quinta do Cruzeiro and Quinta de Santo Antonio – and feature the Douro Valley’s most important indigenous grape varieties: Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz and Tinto Cão. The winemaking process remains true to the purest tradition, involving the classic and rigorous method of foot-treading in traditional granite lagares.

How do I drink it?

Si consiglia la decantazione, ancora meglio lasciando la bottiglia in posizione verticale per un paio di giorni, al fine di condurre la parte di deposito verso il fondo. Il 2024 è un millesimo molto interessante.
