Why it’s different

Terra Prima is produced from organically grown grapes from the Quintas do Panascal and Santo Antonio, as well as from a network of growers who practice or same type of sustainable agriculture. Mixed pressing, mechanised and with the feet in traditional lagares, fortification with wine aguardiente from organically grown grapes.

Average ageing of 5/7 years in large wooden barrels before bottling.


Fonseca Terra Prima is a pioneering project for the port world. In 1992 part of the Quinta do Panascal began the process of converting to organic farming and today the Quinta de Santo Antonio in the Pinao Valley is totally Fonseca has also formed partnerships with a number of farmers practising agriculture, but there was still a very important piece missing to arrive at a totally FOnseca port. In 2002 FOnseca found an Aguardiente distiller of wine made only from grapes, so the fortification process is also part of the certification and Terra Prima can be considered 100% Socert and Ecocert port.
