Movia

Our collaboration with Movia dates back to 2014. Kristančič, the owner of the winery, has been producing wine in the beautiful Slovenian Collio, the Brda, since 1810. Those of Movia are old vineyards cultivated with a unique passion and knowledge by Mirko, historical memory and strenuous defender of traditions, every day on the tractor. No chemicals in the vineyard and an exceptional raw material give all the wines the chance to stay many years in barriques, always on their lees, until bottling, which takes place without clarification or filtration. This is the origin of our collaboration which, in addition to the wines, also leads us to deal with their 'Movia Crystal' line of glasses.
Overview
History
The origins of the Movia estate go back as far as 1820, when the daughter of the Movia family married Mr Kristančič. From that moment on, in addition to intensive fruit growing, which is characteristic of the Collio area, the family started cultivating vines. Movia is in fact first and foremost a wine brand, one of the most important and most awarded brands in Europe. One fifth of the annual product is sold in the area, the rest is exported to markets in the West. From here, to complete the gastronomic pleasure, Movia has created a series of crystal glasses, called 'Movia Crystal', in cooperation with the Rogaška glassworks.
Production method
The Rogaška glassworks, Movia's partner in the creation of stemware, is one of the world's finest crystal manufacturers. The products are still made by hand by master glassmakers using state-of-the-art technology. Characterising the production process is an organised and precise teamwork of at least five people engaged in the sequence of manually blowing each goblet. But the blowing is only one part of the whole job. The final crystal has a typical metallic sound, due to the lead content, which completely distinguishes it from other types of glass.
