Why it’s different

In 2016, the first historic chapter dedicated to the ageing of Clairin began. A decade on from those pioneering experiments, two cuvées have now reached unprecedented maturity and depth: Vieux Casimir 10 Y.O. and Vieux Vaval 10 Y.O. These are two extremely rare small batches, matured entirely in ex-Caroni casks and bottled at full proof, preserving the original authenticity of the Haitian spirit intact.

From the Grand Terroir of Cavaillon comes the Vieux Vaval 10 Y.O., produced from Fritz Vaval’s Clairin and linked to the use of the Madame Meuze sugarcane variety, a symbol of the local area. Rooted in the first ageing experiments launched in 2016, this release offers an extraordinary insight into the evolution of Clairin over time. The Vieux Vaval 10 Y.O. is a blend of six meticulously selected ex-Caroni casks, filled ten years ago and matured at Haitian temperatures with an angel’s share exceeding 58 per cent. It is the oldest Vaval ever bottled and the only 10-year-old Vaval currently in existence in Haiti, presented at full proof to enhance its aromatic richness.
