Why it’s different

In 2016, the first historic chapter dedicated to the ageing of Clairin began. A decade on from those pioneering experiments, two cuvées have now reached unprecedented maturity and depth: Vieux Casimir 10 Y.O. and Vieux Vaval 10 Y.O. These are two extremely rare small batches, matured entirely in ex-Caroni casks and bottled at full proof, preserving the original authenticity of the Haitian spirit intact.

Produced in Barradères, in south-western Haiti, the Vieux Casimir 10 Y.O. bears the signature of Faubert Casimir and is one of the most authentic expressions of the island’s biodiversity. Made from the local ‘Hawaii’ variety of sugar cane, grown in the Grand Terroir of Barradères, this Clairin is one of the very first batches to have been laid down in 2016. This release is the result of a blend of just five ex-Caroni casks, selected after 10 years of ageing: an exceptionally long period for this category, marked by a substantial angel’s share of over 58 per cent. This full-proof bottling marks the oldest Casimir ever produced, as well as the only 10-year-old Casimir currently available in Haiti.
