Camatti

Camatti

Overview

HISTORY

Camatti amaro is a historic Genoese speciality, created in 1924 in Recco by Leghorn chemist Umberto Briganti, who named his preparation after his wife's surname.

In 2023, the bitter was awarded the prestigious title of World's Best Bitter - the World's Best Bitter - by the jury of the World Liqueur Awards.

METHOD OF PRODUCTION

Its original recipe, today guarded by the Bergamino family, remains partly secret in accordance with tradition: after careful selection of the raw materials, an infusion and maceration process is carried out based on the characteristics of each individual herb, flower, aromatic root and tonic used. The resulting infusion decants in stainless steel drums and is then filtered to remove any impurities. Components include almond, cinchona, mint, gentian and bitter orange.
